ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)
No military items are included and the test is based on research to help predict success in a wide range of different jobs. The results help focus student interest and aptitude for careers – both military and civilian. Scores on each test are provided as well as scores clustered around Verbal Skills, Math Skills, and Science/Technical Skills. Benchmark = 50 AFQT
WorkKeys
WorkKeys, developed by ACT, is an assessment system that measures “real world” skills. WorkKeys assessments measure abilities in four key areas: Communication, Problem Solving, Interpersonal Skills and Personal Skills. Based on their performance in Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information, individuals may obtain ACT’s National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). Depending on their performance, recipients are awarded certificates of Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Benchmark = Silver Certificate (4 or above on applied math, locating information, and reading for information)
KOSSA (Kentucky Occupational Skill Standards and Assessments)
These assessments measure of technical skill attainment for federal Perkins accountability. KOSSA includes foundational academic, employability, and occupational specific skills as identified by business and industry. Benchmark = 70
Industry Certificates
A certification must meet the criteria identified below to be considered for federal Perkins Accountability and the Career Readiness accountability: 1. Recognized, endorsed, or required by industry. 2. Written and verified by national or state industries. 3. Curriculum and certification aligned with state and/or national standards. 4. Certification must be an end of program assessment related to the student’s identified career pathway achieved through a sequence of courses. Benchmarks vary by certificate.
